Counselling can help a person find hope in an area of their life, where they may be struggling and feel like there is little chance of things changing or improving.
We often find ourselves in situations, beyond our control where nothing is likely to change, but I believe that hope can be found in adjusting our perspective about things and finding different ways to respond these challenges and difficulties.
- Sharing your thoughts, feelings and experiences with a compassionate, non-judgemental empathic person, can help you to work out for yourself, different ways of viewing and managing your situation.
- You might be experiencing negative thoughts which weigh you down, causing you to feel anxious or depressed. Sharing these thoughts with someone who listens, understands and accepts how you feel, can in itself, bring great relief, and lead to a feeling of hope.
- Exploring whatever difficult feelings you may have pushed down (even possibly from childhood) in a safe and containing space, can have a positive effect on your mental and emotional health.
- Life can at times be overwhelming. Counselling can help you to mentally sort things through, enabling you to feel more clear-headed and gain more clarity about your situation.
- Counselling can help you to identify your resources and strengths, enabling you to feel stronger to face difficult or challenging situations.
These are just some of the benefits of counselling and this is by no means an exhaustive list.
